Originally from Pickerington, OH, Travis has been a music director for over 100 professional productions. Also an accomplished composer and arranger, he helped pen the award-winning musical "Steeple People: A Southern Gospel Comedy" which has been performing to record breaking, sold-out crowds at various theatres across the nation.
Travis has also collaborated on several original children's musicals which have been seen and performed by thousands of children every year. He has served as the resident music director for many theatres including the historic Round Barn theatre in Nappanee, IN, Allenberry Playhouse in Carlisle, PA, and Bearcreek Resort in Bryant, IN. At Bearcreek he was also the activities director and had the privilege to emcee and open for many headliners including Joanne Castle, Boots Randolph, and the Glenn Miller orchestra. Since 2019 Travis has worked extensively as pianist, singer, band Leader and music director for the Medora Musical and Medora Christmas tour in Medora, North Dakota, performing for hundreds of thousands of people. He also keeps busy running his own music production company ”Travis Smith Entertainment”.
As a performer, Travis has been seen in dozens of shows including the national tour of A Christmas Carol and he was also a part of the Children Of Eden concert in NYC where he performed alongside Laura Benanti, Norm Lewis and John Tartaglia. Some of his favorite roles include "Sister Amnesia" in Nunsense A-Men!, "Lord Evelyn Oakleigh" in Anything Goes, and "Elwood P. Dowd" in Harvey. He is a graduate of Otterbein University with a double major in Theatre and Music: Vocal Performance.
Various extracurricular activities Travis enjoys include going to the movies, painting (click here to see his art), watching TV, eating pizza, reading a good book, playing video games, exercising, surfing the internet, and cooking! He also has a new found interest in presidential history and loves visiting their historic sites, libraries, and museums.
